Project Description

White Fillings

Virtually indistinguishable from your natural tooth. Tooth decay is a process by which the normal oral flora which are present in everybody’s mouth converts the sugars from your diet into weak acids that slowly soften and break down the enamel. Tooth decay is preventable with regular high quality brushing and a diet low in sugar intake, but sometimes decay still forms cavities. Many people get cavities, some more so than others, and if left untreated, can spread through the tooth and eventually into the nerve, which would need a root canal treatment. Decay is bad because once tooth structure is lost, you can never get it back, so cavities must be treated as soon as possible with fillings. Signs of decay are localised sensitivity to cold, tooth pain, bad breath, and darker appearance of teeth.

Dr. Minkov restores decay white fillings instead of metal fillings. They are the most conservative and cheapest way to restore both the function and aesthetics of the tooth. With a good bond to the enamel tooth structure, white fillings create a seal that helps to block out the bacteria, reducing the near term rate of recurrence.

White fillings, also known as dental composites are composed of a polymer and ceramic that hardens and forms a bond to the tooth when you shine blue light. The size of the ceramic particles allows us to replicate an array of different shades and colours so the new filling will match the unique colour of your tooth, and when Dr. Minkov polishes the final product, you will not be able to tell that there is even a filling there!
